Taxes

Overview

You will configure taxes to be applied to your products in Manage > Organization & Facility Settings > Taxes.

  • Tax Types are things like State Tax, City Tax, County Tax, Soda tax, etc. Each can be configured to have a different rate at each facility.
  • Tax types are then grouped together into Tax Groups, where Tax Groups are then assigned to products.

For example, a ‘Carbonated Beverage' Tax Group could include the State Tax, City Tax, and Soda Tax Tax Types. You would then assign the 'Carbonated Beverage’ Tax Group to all your carbonated beverage products.

Multigym: Each Tax Type can have a unique rate per location.

Here is how it all links together:

Configure Tax Types

Configure all the different tax rates you need by type here. Each Type can be configured to apply to one, some, or all facilities.

Tax Type appears on the Customer Receipt if there is a tax rate applied for that facility.

  1. Click Add New Tax Type (e.g., State Sales Tax)
    • Assign it to an Account and give it a code.
  2. Click OK to create the Type.
  3. Click the Tax Name you just created to Add New Tax Rates to this tax type.
    • Add New Tax Rate allows you to create rates per facility, set whether the tax is inclusive or not, schedule upcoming rate changes, and create a receipt label.
    • If a gym is not included as a Tax Rate, it will not see this Tax Type on the receipt
    • Set the Exported Account Name to match your Accounting software chart of accounts.

Set up Tax Groups

Tax Groups are the collection of Tax Type(s) applied to a group of products.

Only One Tax Group can be applied per product (Go to Products > Product Name > Edit > Sales Tax tab), and the Tax Group is an internal name only.

We recommend you name the groups so that it is easy to assign within products. Some group examples might be:

  • Pro Shop tax group which contains both the State Sales Tax and City Sales Tax tax types
  • Admissions tax group which contains the City Sales Tax and City Admissions Tax tax types.
  • Sugary/Carbonated Drink tax group which contains the Sugary Drink Tax and State Tax tax types

Groups can also be used to track sales, such as when you have to track and report, a 0% tax rate.  In this case make a 0% tax Type and assign it to a group to apply to these products.
