Overview
Seats are the connection from a particular machine to Redpoint and can either be for a specific Workstation or User.
Once connected, Roles and Permissions control a user access within Redpoint and will need to be implemented. The seat alone does not give a user access to anything within Redpoint.
Seats are configured in Manage > Organization & Facility Settings > Seats
Seat Types
Workstation Seats
Workstation Seats are designed for use on devices that stay in a fixed location—such as registers, self-check-in stations, and back office computers. Each seat is tied to a single facility and does not support movement between locations.
These seats use a username and password that you create. Staff simply click to connect, and their access is controlled by PINs, roles, and permissions configured in Redpoint.
Key Setup Fields:
-
Seat Name: A unique name to identify the workstation seat.
-
Username & Password: Credentials used to log in from the device.
-
Facility Selection: You may only assign one facility per workstation seat.
-
Point of Sale Register Assignment: Assign a specific Register to the workstation, which has been named and configured in advance.
User Seats
User Seats are designed for staff who need access to multiple locations. They support flexible access control and require two-factor authentication (2FA) for added security.
By default, User Seats are assigned the Back Office Register, but can perform a variety of roles depending on their permissions. This is ideal for roaming staff, supervisors, or admin users. It also allows them access to one, multiple, or all facilities if desired.
